Amritha Jayakrishnan: Madhavi
Friday 28 March | 7.30pm | Mind the Gap Studios, Silk Warehouse, Patent Street, Bradford, BD9 4SA | Pay What you Decide
Madhavi is the lesser-known tale of ultimate female rebellion from the Mahabharata, the most popular work of Indian Mythology. It is the tragic and heroic tale of one woman’s plight and fight for a freedom so simple – her freedom of choice. Inspired by the work of her Grandfather, celebrated poet ONV Kurap, Amritha’s telling of Madhavi’s story, through Bharatanatyam dance, is an act of solidarity with woman across the world as they struggle for their own freedom.
Amritha Jayakrishnan is a British South-Asian performing artist, management consultant and writer. She is trained in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi and is the founder of London Adavu – a not-for-profit dancer development space for Bharatanatyam dancers that has grown to a beautiful learning community of 250+ dancers in London.
This event is Pay What You Decide, which means you don’t have to pay until after you have seen the event. Pay What You Decide not only allows you to pay what you can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but also removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for an event in advance without knowing whether you are going to enjoy it or not. Tickets are available to book in advance as usual, but there is no obligation for you to pay until after you have seen the event. You can then decide on a price which you think is suitable based on your experience, which means if you haven’t enjoyed it at all, you don’t have to pay anything.
