The true story of the 1930s Bradford Ladies Evening Cricket League. #ThisGirlCan because these girls did.

Connecting women and girls playing cricket today with their fabulous but forgotten sporting heritage, THIS GIRL DID brings parallel stories of Bradford’s sporting achievements to life.

Teenage cricketer Zainab and her cricket-mad Nana, dream of her being the first Bradford lass to captain Yorkshire, unaware that someone else got there first!

Meet Kathleen, Dot and Annie; 1930s Bradford millworkers determined to start playing cricket.  Can Hannah Drake, the city’s first female politician, open the club-house doors for the ladies? Will crickets’ fairy godmother Betty Snowball arrive in time with an inspirational team talk?
Discover how West Yorkshire first led the charge for women and girls in cricket a hundred years ago and join-in today’s female cricket revolution.

An informal script-in-hand reading of a new play, followed by Q&A and feedback.
This event is just the start of an exciting project – we welcome you to be part of the journey.

This event is Pay What You Decide, which means you don’t have to pay until after you have seen the event.

Pay What You Decide not only allows you to pay what you can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but also removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for an event in advance without knowing whether you are going to enjoy it or not.

Tickets are available to book in advance as usual, but there is no obligation for you to pay until after you have seen the event. You can then decide on a price which you think is suitable based on your experience, which means if you haven’t enjoyed it at all, you don’t have to pay anything.  If you have enjoyed the event and wish to support This Girl Did’s future, you may choose to donate after the event.
